A Description of Paradise

This publication gives a glimpse into a matter that is highly important and significant to our lives.

The great scholar Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr ibn Ayyub ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah compiled a well renowned poem known as ‘al-Nuniyyah’ or ‘al-Kafiyyah al-Shafiyyah fi Intisar al-Firqatul Najiyah’ in which he highlights the creed of the people of Sunnah in various aspects whilst constantly adhering to the text of the Quran and Sunnah as proof for his statements. The poem consists of thousands of lines and is considered to be a great service to Islam and the Muslims. However, we have selected the segment of the poem related to Paradise and its splendour. The author truly evokes a desire for Paradise through his words and describes it in a way that would cause any sound heart to yearn for Allah’s reward in the Hereafter whilst expanding on matters of creed that many people may have misconceptions about.

It gained much attention from scholars throughout various generations and has been explained and further clarified numerous times.

We have chosen to translate the explanation of the great scholar Muhammad ibn Salih al-'Uthaymin due to the detail and precision in the wording. Nearly every word of the poem is further clarified by the sheikh in a simple manner that adds more value to an already valuable writing.

The translation itself has been structured so that the main body of the text within each chapter and its explanation are placed together and at times, words or phrases have been adapted whilst maintaining the meaning in order to meet the requirements of the English audience.
